Litza Janowski has been teaching for
15 years and has been at Blessed Sacrament for 10 years. She recieved a BS in Education from Alverno College.
She taught Kindergarten for 5 years before moving on to her current grade level of 2nd Grade.
Mrs. Janowski believes
that educating the whole child is important. Throughout the 2nd grade year, she works to help children become proficient with
the skills and concepts that are introduced so they are prepared to advance to the 3rd grade. She uses a wide assortment of
learning activities/lessons to enhance the curriculum. She asks children to create dioramas; do book reports; research a saint
and participate in a "Living Litany of the Saints"; mail a "Flat Stanley" out to family/friends and then
chart where he has gone on a map; perform songs/skits/mini classroom plays as related to Science and Social Studies concepts.
Working as a team is also vital to the success of the children in her class, so she works to keep the lines of communication
open with parents/families of the 2nd graders. Each week she sends home a newsletter called "From the Desk of Mrs. Janowski..."
which informs parents about what her class has been working on. This is also used to remind families about what may be going
on the following week.
A key component of the 2nd grade year is the sacramental preparations that take place. Mrs.
Janowski feels honored to prepare the children for two sacraments during the year: First Reconciliation (also known as
Confession or Penance) in the Fall/Winter and then First Holy Communion in the Spring.
Mrs. Janowski would
also like to share that she is a parishioner here at Blessed Sacrament Parish. She is married and has one child. In her free
time she enjoys reading and playing badminton.
